Planting Our Future One Tree at a Time

We collect seeds from forest species in the Appalachian Mountains and produce plants for forest restoration purposes, specializing in Red Spruce.

Red Spruce Forests once covered over one million acres of the Central Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia. Logging and resource extraction have reduced that acreage by over 90% with less than 100,000 acres of Spruce forests remaining in scattered, fragmented "Spruce Islands." There is currently a coordinated effort underway to restore Red Spruce Forests to their original extent. The Central and Southern Appalachian Spruce Restoration Initiatives (CASRI and SASRI) are collaboratives of Agencies, NGOs, and landowners working together on a Landscape Scale restoration program. www.restoreredspruce.org.

15 Cubic Inch Plugs
These plugs are approximately 2 inches dia. x 6 inches deep. The plants are 12-18" tall. We've planted over 2 million of these plugs with great success.

We have 22 seed sources to select from for the Spring 2028 crop. From Coastal Maine, to North Carolina.
Red spruce forests across the Appalachians will need to adapt to climate changes. Increasing genetic diversity and planting from source populations adapted to future climates of restoration sites can help.
To guarantee appropriately sourced plants for your project, order in advance. Advance orders are being accepted through September 2026, for the Spring 2028 planting season.
